In alignment with present-day development priorities, our initiatives in 2026 are focused on women entrepreneurship promotion, digital inclusion, youth employability enhancement, climate-resilient agriculture, environmental awareness, financial literacy, and community health improvement. About Organization
16 Mile Rural Development Society is a reputed non-government organization based in Malda district, West Bengal, working for the upliftment of rural and marginalized communities. The organization began its journey in 1991 with the vision of promoting sustainable rural development, social justice, and community empowerment.
From its early years, the Society focused on improving access to education, healthcare, sanitation, livelihood opportunities, and women empowerment in backward rural areas. Over time, it expanded its activities to include child development, nutrition, skill training, micro-credit support, environmental awareness, agriculture development, and youth engagement programs.
The organization started from the village of 16 Mile in Malda and gradually extended its services to different parts of Malda, South Dinajpur, North Dinajpur, and Murshidabad districts. Through dedicated fieldwork and community participation, it has reached approximately 1,25,000 beneficiaries.
Over the years, 16 Mile Rural Development Society has successfully implemented various programs in health awareness, sanitation, child welfare, women entrepreneurship, farmer support, self-help group development, and disaster relief. The organization continues to work in partnership with government departments, financial institutions, and local communities.
Today, the Society remains committed to building self-reliant, educated, healthy, and empowered communities through inclusive and sustainable development initiatives.
